Planning and design for people and biodiversity through a novel green infrastructure framework

Hornsby Shire Council's Biodiversity Conservation Plan

Prepared for Department of Shire of Hornsby, NSW, 2020

About

Rhizome was engaged to develop the Hornsby Shire Council's Biodiversity Conservation Plan. This was underpinned by an exploration of a new 'Green Infrastructure Framework' for the whole Shire and included both operational, as well as more than 40 specific future-thinking recommendations for location-specific biodiversity management.

The process was driven by a series of unique interactive community and stakeholder design 'charrette' workshops where more than 80 stakeholders engaged with and shared ideas and knowledge through a variety of interactive mapping activities related to the Hornsby area and natural environment.

This project was awarded an AILA NSW Award of Excellence in ‘Landscape Planning’ in 2021.
